A Grassroots Coalition for Food Sovereignty in the Bay
A Grassroots Coalition for Food Sovereignty in the Bay
The People’s Food and Farm Project seeks to address the fractures and inequities in the Bay Area food system by building a grassroots movement and ballot initiative for a socially just, environmentally sustainable, and economically thriving food system that centers the voices, dreams, and wisdom of workers and BIPOC communities.
We envision a Bay Area where food is recognized as a human right and our foodshed flourishes through regenerative care for water and land, alongside equitable distribution of resources and decision-making power.
Our vision reflects a future where:
Previously disenfranchised communities determine their food futures
Those who grow, prepare, and distribute our food are valued, protected, and properly resourced for their labor
Everyone can access or produce nourishing, culturally-relevant foods that heal our bodies while in harmony with our ecosystems
